Prospective Marriage Visa (Subclass 300)

If you are engaged to an Australian citizen or permanent resident and intend to marry, you may be eligible for a Prospective Marriage Visa (Subclass 300).

This visa allows you to enter Australia, marry your partner, and then apply for a partner visa.

Who Can Apply?

You may be eligible if:

  • You are outside Australia at time of application

  • You are engaged to your sponsor

  • You have met in person (in most cases)

  • You intend to marry within 9 months of visa grant

  • Your relationship is genuine

After the Visa is Granted

  1. You enter Australia

  2. You marry your partner within 9 months

  3. You apply for the onshore Partner Visa (Subclass 820/801)
